In case you live in America (ie, you have no knowledge of other country’s cultures), a Sitar is a plucked stringed instrument, predominantly used in Hindustani classical music – where it has been ubiquitous since the Middle Ages – and Beatles albums, you know, when they went off rails, smoked a lot of pot and grew moustaches.

It’s a genius marketing ploy, really. The sitar is primarily used in developing countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
