The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself… And Spiders
This is one of those instances where someone gets quoted “accurately,” but either the context is incorrect or some of it was left out.
Many think Frankie D. was talking about the Great Depression and pulling oneself up by their bootstraps, getting to work and igniting the fire and passion of the country again.
Actually, this was pulled from a little anecdote about how Eleanor found a spider in the bathroom at the White House and FDR refused to kill it because he was screaming like a little girl and standing on his desk in the oval office.

I have to wonder about the accuracy of this one.
FDR had Polio, which left him in a great deal of pain when he stood, and left wheelchair bound for most of his presidency. Somehow, I can’t envision a man in his condition have the physical ability to jump up onto his desk – especially to avoid a spider.
Now Elanor on the other hand…. =)
I agree Ashley. There is absolutely no historical evidence to support this claim. Check your facts, if you are so worried about journalistic integrity.
Ahh Dennis – I think you’re missing the point. When you come to a comedy t-shirt blog, you can’t expect to receive a history lesson. It’s bullshit – I know it’s bullshit – but it’s funny
Ashley knows this, just as sure as she knows that her name isn’t really Ashley and that she’s just some monkey paid by a porn company to generate traffic for their site, which is why I removed the link to her website but kept her post. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you…
